Asking Permission for filming

This is a email I have sent on behalf of the group to Hall Place & Gardens to ask permission to film there. Below is what was actually said.

Dear Sir/Madam

I am currently in my final year at Wilmington Grammar school for girls. As part of my media A-level course we are required to make a Music video within small groups. My group and I have chosen to do Birdy’s song ‘People Help the People’ and plan on using natural scenery to convey our message. Having been to your establishment many times we feel Hall Place would be a perfect location for our shoot. I am writing to ask your permission, on behalf of my A2 Media Group, to film within your facilities as we understand you are part of the Bexley Heritage Trust. We plan to use a small handheld camera so we will not make a scene and there will be a maximum of 6 people involved, including the crew and myself.

Below is a link to my A2 Media Coursework blog, where any and all filming and work we do on this project is shown.

Thank You for your time and consideration on this matter.
Kind Regards,

Rosie Acton

Testing Filming

This is a video of testing using the camera for two types of shots. The first is a pan shot, followed by the sun light shots we plan to use at the start of the music video. Having done this we have decided to look into ways of making the filming more steady and less jumpy.

Experimenting with make-up

We have created a video with all the pictures we took while testing our ides for the make up.

I have also included just photos below.

Experimenting with Photo Shots

Experimenting with Photo shots.
we have taken some photos to test out and show the kinds of angles we will be using in our video. Below is a explanation of when each of them will be used and why we have chosen to use them.

To the left there are two photos we have taken. These photos are made to present the type of shot we will use on the pier at the start of the music video. While we will not see lots of scenic greenery in the background, we will see water and the general surroundings on the pier. We decided to use a over the shoulder shot and a side shot of her face. This is so why we appear to keep our distance from the situation the audience can still see things from her point of view.

Here is a Gif I have made of two photos we have taken. These kind of photo's will be used during the intro while we look at different areas of the field, we will also use shots from further away but these were designed to represent particular close ups.

These pictures were taken to show how we would film the section where the world is rushing past the homeless person. We have used a point of view shot so that the viewer sees things from the same level as the homeless person and takes notice of them instead of the rest of the world who just ignores them.

These shots were taken to show how we would film the final section of the music video. On the last 3 chords we wanted to zoom out from a close up on her face.

Here are 3 pictures trying to represent how we would film the section where the lead singer is walking through the rose garden.

we plan to have a small section in the second half of the music video where she is walking down the pavement. For this we plan to use both
tracking shots from in front of the lead singer and from the side. to the left there is two examples of how we might film this.

Here are a sequence of photos to show how we plan to film her entering the field from the pavement. we plan to film it twice. once from behind her and once from in front of her so we can see her multiple angles. Furthermore we see how we plan to see her walking away from the camera.

Story board

This is our story board. above it is in a more written form, again with the timings and lyrics on the left and the pictures to represent what we are going to be doing on the left. Below we have put it into a video format to help the viewer understand what we plan it to look like.

Time Line

This is our time line for our song. On the far left is the timing's and the lyrics at that moment. On the right is what we plan to do for that section of the music.
